I've never fully understood the excitement about Chuck Klosterman. I always thought he was a jugmental/self-righteous/narcissist trying to look like a normal kind of guy. Plus, I have to say that I am paranoid when it comes to the pop-culture's enthusiasts. So anyway this afternoon I came across this:
"Every one of Joel's important songs--including the happy ones--are ultimately about loneliness. And it's not 'clever lonely' (like Morrissey) or 'interesting lonely' (like Radiohead); it's 'lonely lonely,' like the way it feels when you're being hugged by someone and it somehow makes you sadder."
and I owe him an apology. The guy's smart and funny. (I still think he's a narcissist, but he sure knows what he's talking about.)
this is the reason why I read blogs. (Well mine in that case...) To make me realise 100x times that I don't know anything.
