Appetizer/ working it cheap

Montreal very own McGill college avenue has been invaded by Montreal mode & Design. As much as people tend to boast about how our personal style (See, Mahée Paiement boasting Montrealer's style into the ''Metro'' periodical, edition of June 17.) is so unique, I cannot spend a week without complaining about how people don't know how to dress in here. Beside a few fashionistas (I don't consider myself one at all...on a Fashion scale, i'd probably put myself on a 3 on 10), and the bizarre crowd, i think honestly that nobody gives a shit.

Reminds me of the director of H&M, right before the opening of the downtown's store, who qualified the Montrealer's style as ''special''. You know, as flattering as it sounds, the word ''special'' is often use on ironic purpose. It's like when you tell your retarded child that he is special.  I don't believe that Montreal, (As Mahée said, once again) is the second fashion spot, behind New-York, in America. If Montreal style was a word, it would definitly be ''confort'', instead of ''style''. Crocs, jogging, UGGS boots, legging, hiking boots, name it all. Peeping Louboutin on the street is not de rigueur, it's the total exception. Point is, I don't see this event as a ''vitrine'' of what's going on in the fashion map. Do you remember a Quebec gala where local stars were wearing something else than Andy The-Anh or Marie St-Pierre? Doubt it. Without being ironic, i would much ratter say that people lacks of guts. Don't you think so?

I wish Montreal's men could combine a ''Dead-kennedys'' type of jacket, and still have class like those two babes.

On an another note, if I could wear Alexander Wang stuff everyday/allday, i'll definitely do it... Although I'm not a fan of paying 300$ for a coton tank top. But hey!, seems like Gap opened an alternative to all us broke-ass people of this world. Distributed into only 3 stores in Canada, Gap has made a collaboration with him, and with Vena-Cava. I couldn't resist to the VC dress....I'm very fond on the zipper trend going on. I also loved (Perhaps even much then the one I bought...) the very cute dress with the graphic on top. But it makes me look like a doll, and for me, this is a no-no. Proof that khaki CAN be not boring.
